Dr. Yvonne Szymko Bennett is the Scientific Review Officer for CSR’s Neuroscience and Ophthalmic Imaging Technologies (formerly Neurotechnology (NT-L)) Study Section.
Prior duties at CSR include the management of the F01 Brain Disorders Fellowship Panel. Yvonne was previously a research fellow at the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, where she worked in several laboratories on brain imaging (diffusion tensor imaging, fMRI and magnetoencephalography studies), hereditary hearing loss and electrophysiological studies in animal and human subjects. Dr. Bennett received a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where her dissertation focused on hair cell micromechanics and transduction. She also served as a research audiologist in the NIH Clinical Center. Before coming to NIH, Dr. Bennett conducted postdoctoral studies at the Institute for Sensory Research at Syracuse University on the tuning properties of cochlear hair cells after sound exposure in vivo. She also worked in science policy at the National Academy of Sciences, in patent examination at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, and in technology transfer at the NIH.
