Dr. Scott Jakes serves as the Scientific Review Officer for the SBIR/STTR, Non-HIV, Microbial Vaccine Development Study Section and the related nonrecurring special emphasis panel reviews.

After receiving his M.S. in microbiology from Wayne State University and Ph.D. in pharmacology from the Medical College of Ohio, he served as a postdoctoral fellow in the departments of biochemistry and zoology at Iowa State University investigating the roles of protein phosphorylation in cellular regulation. Dr. Jakes joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals and served as Director of its Department of Immunology and its Department of Cardiovascular Diseases. His research there centered on the discovery and design of small molecule inhibitors of protein kinases and signal transduction proteins as drug candidates for the treatment of human disease.
