Dr. Serena Chu is the Scientific Review Officer for CSR’s Adult Psychopathology and Disorders of Aging Study Section (APDA).

Prior to joining CSR, she served as a Scientific Review Officer at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) where she managed the Interventions in Schizophrenia, Late Life or Personality Disorders (ITSP) Study Section. She was also responsible for the review of a number of complex funding mechanisms, including Center reviews and special institute funding announcements. Dr. Chu received a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She followed this with a postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and the Houston VA Health Services Research and Development Center of Excellence, where she studied health care disparities and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She is a licensed psychologist. Before coming to NIH, Dr. Chu served as the Equity and Mental Health Services Portfolio Manager for the VA’s Health Services Research and Development agency.
