Dr. Martha Hare serves as a Scientific Review Officer within the Health Delivery and Methodology Integrated Review Group with primary responsibility for the Nursing and Related Clinical Sciences (NRCS) Recurring Special Emphasis Panel (SEP)Study Section, or NRCS II. She also oversees other health promotion, health disparities and clinical SEPs. Dr. Hare served as a program director at NCI's Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities and at the National Institute of Nursing Research. Prior to joining NIH, she was a public health research scientist at the Battelle Memorial Institute, where she led studies concerned with HIV prevention, cancer screening and comprehensive cancer control, and community-based diabetes control programs. Dr. Hare combines undergraduate training in nursing (Cornell University) with a Ph.D. in medical anthropology (Graduate Faculty of New School for Social Research) to focus on health and illness among diverse populations across the lifespan.
