Dr. Julia Barthold is a Scientific Review Officer in the Digestive, Kidney and Urological Systems (DKUS) IRG. After receiving undergraduate and MD degrees at Northwestern University, she completed urology residency training at Northwestern, followed by clinical and research fellowship training in pediatric urology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Cornell University Medical College, respectively. Prior to coming to CSR, she was a physician scientist at Nemours Biomedical Research/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware; Professor of Urology and Pediatrics, Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University; and Affiliated Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Delaware. In recent years, she served as the Nemours site PI for the NIH-funded Delaware Clinical and Translational Research (IDeA-CTR) Program and President of the Societies for Pediatric Urology. Her research has focused on the genetic basis of testicular descent and cryptorchidism in humans and animal models.
