Division of Neuroscience, Development and Aging DNDA
Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Neuroscience MDCN
Study Section:
Neurotransporters, Receptors, and Calcium Signaling NTRC

Dr. Peter Guthrie is the Scientific Review Administrator for CSR’s Neurotransporters, Receptors, Channels, and Calcium Signaling study section in the Molecular, Developmental, and Cellular Neurosciences Integrated Review Group, as well as the Peer Review Resources Intranet and QVR Coordinator.

He received his Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of California at San Diego, studying plasticity of neuronal communication in the marine mollusk Aplysia. Dr. Guthrie then studied the functional structure of mammalian neurons in the Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. As an assistant professor at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, he studied the regulation of intracellular calcium transients in neurons as well as their effect on growth cone dynamics. Before coming to CSR, he was an associate professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, Utah, where he investigated intracellular and extracellular mechanisms underlying interactions of astrocytes with neurons and microglia.
