After receiving a Ph.D. in microbial genetics from Liverpool University, Dr. Pugh gained additional training in molecular virology at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Edinburgh University, and the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.
He then worked at St. Mary’s Medical School in London for 2-years before returning to Fox Chase, where he ran a lab studying hepadnavirus infection. Dr. Pugh then moved to the Washington, D.C., region, where he worked briefly in the biosafety testing industry before joining the review arm of the American Institute for Biological Sciences in northern Virginia as a Scientific Review Officer. He has been at CSR since 2004 and managed study sections covering the gamut of activities in the Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, and has served as a Referral Officer.
