Dr. Scott Jakes received his M.S. in microbiology from Wayne State University and Ph.D. in pharmacology from the Medical College of Ohio. He then served as a postdoctoral fellow in the departments of biochemistry and zoology at Iowa State University investigating the roles of protein phosphorylation in cellular regulation. Before joining NIH, Dr. Jakes worked at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals as its director of immunology overseeing research on the discovery and design of small molecule inhibitors of protein kinases and signal transduction proteins as drug candidates for the treatment of autoimmune disease.
