Before coming to CSR, Dr. Chi-Tso (Joseph) Chiu was a research fellow at the Molecular Neurobiology Section in the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) at NIH. His research there focused on the therapeutic effects and neuroprotective mechanisms of mood stabilizers lithium and valproate in preclinical models of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatry disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury and Huntington's disease. Dr. Chiu received his Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and he then carried out his postdoctoral training at NIMH.
