Dr. Sydney Charles Selden III earned his Ph.D. in experimental pathology at the University of Washington in St. Louis, Missouri. His studies were on endothelial cell growth control. He followed this with a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he studied the structure and biochemistry of cytoskeletal proteins. Dr. Selden was then a fellow at the Revlon Biotechnology Research Center in Rockville, MD, where he studied vascular cells. He then went on to be an assistant professor at the Wilmer Eye to study retinal neovascularization. Prior to joining CSR, Dr. Selden was a program official, then a review officer, at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. He then served for 15 years as the NIH Extramural Staff Training Officer before joining CSR.
