She received her Ph.D. in experimental psychology at the University of Texas at Arlington. For the next ten years, she worked at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine -- first as a postdoctoral fellow and later as faculty -- where she continued her research on the mechanisms of itch and inflammatory and neuropathic pain in rodent and primate models. Before becoming a Scientific Review Officer at CSR, she worked as a contract SRO, supporting reviews in several CSR Integrated Review Groups and Divisions.
