Dr. Jingshan Chen received his medical degree in Shanghai, China, and his Ph.D. in molecular biology from Fordham University in New York, USA. Dr. Chen did his postdoctoral research work at the Molecular Psychiatry Laboratory at Yale University School of Medicine, where he was later appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Before joining CSR, he was a staff scientist and the head of the Animal Model Laboratory in the Genes, Cognition and Psychosis Program at the National Institute of Mental Health. His past research work focused on the molecular mechanisms of cocaine and opioid addiction and the genetic susceptibility of schizophrenia. He used innovative approaches to develop novel genetic animal models that continue to contribute to a better understanding of the long-term neuroplasticity induced by drug abuse and the genetic factors underlying the cognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia.
