Dr. Zubaida Saifudeen received her Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from Tulane University, Louisiana for her work on DNA methylation and transcription. She joined CSR from Tulane University, where she was Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Physiology. Research in her lab was supported by grants from the NIH as well as foundation awards. Her work focused on kidney development, with an emphasis on regulation of nephron progenitor cell renewal and differentiation by energy metabolism and the transcription factor p53. During her time in academia, Dr. Saifudeen was involved with teaching graduate level courses in developmental biology and served on the biomedical science graduate program steering committee, as well as the faculty advisory committee and graduate school admission committees.
