Dr. Mohammad Samiul Alam received his Ph.D. in medical microbiology from Kumamoto University, Japan. He completed his post-doctoral training in T cell Immunology in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Virginia. Prior to joining CSR, he was a principal investigator/research microbiologist in the F.D.A., Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) for 11 years. During his tenure at the F.D.A. Dr. Alam focused his research on host immune response and biomarker identification after foodborne pathogen infection using various models with special emphasis on risk characterization of listeriosis and salmonellosis in susceptible populations (aging and immunocompromised), and change in gut microbiome. He has served as an CFSAN-IACUC member and ad hoc reviewer in many international journals.
