Dr. Randy Capps earned his Ph.D. in sociology and a Master’s in public affairs, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He then completed his postdoc training in sociology at the University of California, Irvine. Prior to joining CSR, he was employed as a senior research associate by the Urban Institute and as the Director of Research for U.S. Programs at the Migration Policy Instituter. In these positions, he supervised the creation of databases about the characteristics of immigrant populations and led federal- and foundation-funded studies on a broad range of topics such as the health and well-being of diverse populations, mental health, social determinants of health, and disparities in health care access.
