Dr. Sharon Gubanich is an Assistant Director in the Division of Receipt and Referral. Prior to this position, she served as a Scientific Review Officer (SRO) for 19 years in the Oncology 2 - Translational and Clinical Integrated Review Group. Initially, she organized the review of small business applications focused on cancer therapy before becoming the SRO for the Clinical Oncology study section. She then became the SRO for the newly formed Developmental Therapeutics study section, which focused on novel therapies of neoplastic diseases in in vitro and in vivo model systems, including early-stage clinical trials.
Dr. Gubanich received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Akron. Her research focused on the development of polymeric wound healing accelerators, which were subsequently patented, licensed, and marketed. Before coming to CSR, she conducted postdoctoral studies in pharmacology at Fox Chase Cancer Center focusing on preclinical studies of targeted anticancer agents.
