Dr. Razvan Cornea has a PhD in biochemistry and biophysics from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (UMN). His background in spectroscopic techniques for biological membranes was complemented by molecular and cell biology through postdoctoral training at Indiana University. He returned to the UMN for a second postdoc, then he rose through the ranks to lead an NIH-funded research program focused on fundamental questions around the biophysics of cellular calcium transport. Since 2005 his academic research has added a strong focus on therapeutic discovery targeting intracellular calcium dysregulation in skeletal and cardiac myopathies, which led to pioneering high-throughput screening for SERCA pumps and RyR channels. With close collaborators at University of Minnesota, he co-founded Photonic Pharma LLC in 2014. Before joining the Center for Scientific Review, he was an Associate Professor at UMN and Vice President of Research at Photonic Pharma.
