Dr. Rupali Das received her Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock. Dr. Das trained at the Medical College of Wisconsin and then at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she gained expertise in topics related to immune senescence, transplantation (graft versus host disease), and tumor immunology. Dr. Das then took a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University (MSU), where she studied the development and functions of cytotoxic innate T cells and tested novel therapeutics for anti-cancer treatment. She also studied the molecular mechanisms used by innate and adaptive immune cells to drive asthma pathogenesis. She mentored post-doctoral fellows along with graduate and undergraduate students, and taught immunology as well as various other graduate-level courses at MSU. She served as an ad hoc reviewer for several scientific journals as well as funding agencies, including the NIH.
