Dr. Dharmendar Rathore has 17+ years of extramural research administration experience at the NIH. Prior to joining CSR in 2025, he served as Chief of the Scientific Review Branch at National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), where he led a review group responsible for the peer review of funding opportunities spanning basic science, drug development, epidemiology, prevention, and treatment research in the field of substance use, addiction, and its co-morbidities.
Dr. Rathore also served as Branch Chief and Deputy Branch Chief in the Scientific Review Program at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). In these roles, he supervised peer review of HIV/AIDS, microbiology, and infectious diseases research initiatives.
Before transitioning to scientific administration, Dr. Rathore was an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech, where he led a malaria research laboratory. He conducted his postdoctoral studies in malaria pathogenesis in the Intramural Research Program at NIAID.
