Dr. Vishakha Sharma received her Ph.D. in molecular medicine with a concentration in pharmacology and neuroscience from the George Washington University. Her dissertation was focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD), a genetic disorder with DUX4 as the causative gene. She subsequently served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Military HIV Research Program, investigating the immunological pathways and mechanisms underlying neurocognitive impairment in individuals with acute and chronic HIV infection. Prior to joining the Center for Scientific Review (CSR) as a scientific review officer (SRO), she also served as an SRO at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
