Dr. Mairi Noverr received her Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from the University of Michigan. She spent the majority of her career in academia, with over 20 years of research experience, and most recently held a full professorship in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Tulane School of Medicine. Dr. Noverr’s scientific background is in the field of medical mycology, focusing on candidiasis and polymicrobial fungal-bacterial sepsis. Her laboratory was continuously NIH-funded from 2009 until she joined the NIH in 2023. She served on and chaired numerous NIH review panels and held several journal editorships, including serving as associate editor of Infection & Immunity for 10 years. Over her career she published over 70 peer-reviewed publications and was inducted into the American Academy of Microbiology in 2019.
