Dr. Lisa-Marie Rowell earned her Ph.D. in public health and a graduate certificate in health communication from the University of South Carolina, where she also completed postdoctoral training in health disparities research. Dr. Rowell’s research program was focused on reducing human papillomavirus (HPV)-related cancer health disparities among women living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). She first joined the Center for Scientific Review (CSR) in 2021 as an SRO and subsequently served as an SRO in the social and behavioral sciences section of the scientific review branch at the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and was the review policy SME for the NIH Guide prior to rejoining CSR in 2026.
