Biography

Dr. Kathryn Koeller is an Associate Director in the Division of Receipt and Referral and the Research/Review Integrity Officer at the Center for Scientific Review.

Prior to assuming this position, she was a Scientific Review Officer in the Biological and Macromolecular Biophysics Integrated Review Group for 12 years, primarily running the Synthetic and Biological Chemistry B study section. Before joining CSR, she was an assistant professor in the chemistry department at the University of Washington-Seattle. Dr. Koeller holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, where her graduate research focused on chemical and enzymatic synthesis of complex oligosaccharides, glycopeptides, and aminoglycoside antibiotics. During post-doctoral research in chemical biology at Harvard University, she pursued cell-based screening approaches toward the discovery of small molecules modulators of nuclear and cytoplasmic histone deacetylase function.
