Dr. Zack Howard received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of South Carolina. Her research there focused on the molecular and structural chemistry of complement component eight. Before coming to the NIH, Dr. Howard conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and Department of Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Howard came to this position after many years in the intramural program of the National Cancer Institute, where she worked in the Laboratory of Molecular Immunoregulation investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to the initiation and progression of numerous cancer types. Her basic science studies translated to the development of preclinical therapies with diverse modalities of action and delivery.
