Dr. Carmen Bertoni received her Ph.D. from the University of Perugia, Italy. Her postdoctoral work at Stanford University was centered on optimizing gene therapy strategies for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). She then joined the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as an assistant professor, she was later promoted to an associate professor continuing her work on DMD and muscle biology. During her appointment at UCLA, she has served on numerous committees including the Neuroscience Institutional Review Board (IRB), the UCLA Graduate Education committees and has served in Scientific Advisory Committees for non-profit organizations.
