Dr. Vivian Tang has a bachelor’s degree in physiology from the University of California, Berkeley and a Ph.D. degree in physiology from the University of California, San Francisco. After obtaining her degrees, Dr. Tang became a postdoctoral research fellow and an instructor of cell biology at Harvard Medical School. She joined the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign as a research assistant professor and a co-director of renal at Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Tang was the recipient of an NIH research career award and an NIH R01 research project grant for her work on cell adhesion and cytoskeleton. During COVID-19, she received an IMPACT AWARD from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign for her efforts in research education under pandemic conditions.
