Dr. Lee Klinkenberg received his Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University at Albany, SUNY. He completed post-doctoral training at the Tuberculosis Research Center in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Klinkenberg became research faculty at Johns Hopkins and continued his work on the pathology and treatment of tuberculosis and interactions between BGE vaccination and infection with HIV. Dr. Klinkenberg joined the Scientific Review Program at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as a Scientific Review Officer, where he led the evaluation of grant applications and contract proposals. Dr. Klinkenberg then became the Knowledge Management Coordinator, where he oversaw outreach programs to other institutes and managed the internal training program for NIAID staff. Prior to coming to CSR, Dr. Klinkenberg held the position of Deputy Chief of the AIDS Review Branch, where he assisted in branch leadership, organization, and training of new staff members.
