Dr. Robert Elliott holds an M.Sc. in radiation biology from the University of London and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Cornell (now Weill) Graduate School of Medical Sciences in New York City. He trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, San Francisco. Before joining NIH, Dr. Elliott was an instructor of neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, where he studied epilepsy-associated changes in gene expression and network reorganization. Subsequently, he conducted research into disease-related neuronal degeneration and regeneration at Biogen-Idec, Inc., in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Prior to joining CSR, Dr. Elliott was deputy chief of the Scientific Review Branch at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Dr. Elliott has over 20 years of peer review experience as an SRO at CSR, running the Bioengineering of Neuroscience and Vision Technologies study section and the F03A fellowship study section.
