The special emphasis panel reviews training and career development applications in the general area of translational and clinical investigations that encompass cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Specifically, the SEP reviews applications related to translation of basic research to clinical practice; development or optimization of treatment modalities; chemoprevention; and development of biomarkers/signatures for tumor detection and diagnosis.

  • Pharmacologic and toxicologic studies of new therapeutic modalities in patients
  • Radiation therapy and radiopharmaceuticals
  • Discovery, validation and development of cancer biomarkers for early detection, diagnosis, and prognosis
  • Application of novel methods for biostatistical analysis, informatics, and modeling that facilitate the discovery, evaluation, and use of markers
  • Cancer prevention studies (including in vitro and in vivo evaluation of efficacy and safety)
