Dr. Michael Bloom’s career began at the Jackson Laboratory, where he completed his Ph.D. thesis in hematology and genetics. After leaving Maine, he was a postdoctoral fellow and staff scientist at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intramural program where he studied aplastic anemia and its clonal sequelae. He then went to Human Genome Sciences where he participated in preclinical drug discovery and development, including work on death receptor antibodies for solid tumor therapy. Michael also worked for Scientific Applications International Corporation as an administrator of cancer funding programs within the Department of Defense. Most recently, he worked at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases as an SRO.
