Dr. Ganesan Ramesh obtained his doctorate from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, where his dissertation focused on the role of TGF-βs in pre-implantation embryo development and its regulation by steroid hormones in the uterus. His expertise is in kidney pathophysiology and inflammation. Before coming to CSR, he was an associate professor in the Department of Medicine/Vascular Biology Center, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University. During this time, his work focused on the role of Netrin-1 and inflammation in acute and chronic kidney diseases for which he was awarded an R01 grant by NIH as well as a Carl W. Gottschalk Research Scholar Grant from the American Society of Nephrology, and a Beginning Grant-in-Aid from the American Heart Association. Dr. Ramesh was also an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. His work has resulted in more than 60 peer reviewed publications and 40 abstracts.
