Biography

Dr. Hope Cummings is a Senior Social Science Analyst who supports CSR’s research and evaluation efforts. Dr. Cummings received her Ph.D. in communication studies from the University of Michigan and did post-doctoral training in the Harvard School of Public Health. As a social and behavioral research scientist, Dr. Cummings examined the role that media and communications play in shaping the psychological, social, and physical health and well-being of individuals and communities. She has conducted research on a wide range of health outcomes such as prescription opioid misuse, e-cigarette and tobacco use, obesity, bias and intergroup relations, and prosocial behaviors and aggression. Dr. Cummings is also well-versed in both quantitative and qualitative research methods and analyses. Prior to joining CSR, Dr. Cummings worked as a Communication Research and Evaluations manager at ICF—a research and consulting firm, where she led research and evaluation efforts for public health campaigns for federal agencies including CDC, SAMHSA, and FDA.
