Dr. Krystyna Szymczyk came to CSR after working at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases intramural research program in bioinformatics and data science. She received a Ph.D. in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Her research there focused on the role of caspases in cell differentiation. She studied apoptosis in osteoblasts while completing her undergraduate thesis work at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Before coming to NIH, Dr. Szymczyk completed a Humboldt fellowship in nanotechnology at the Max Planck Institute and the University of Heidelberg in Germany.
