Dr. Thomas Zeyda earned his Ph.D. from the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany, founded on loss-of-function studies that targeted the somatostatin system, which he performed as a guest researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Throughout his academic path, at the Max-Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine (Gӧttingen, Germany), the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, and at Duke University, his research has focused on genetic modeling in a neuroscience context. At Ingenious Targeting Laboratory, Inc. he directed its funding efforts, engineered custom genetically modified animals for external clients, and drove internal technology developments as Director of Technology Integration. Since joining CSR, Dr. Zeyda has overseen peer review for a range of grant mechanisms and topics, working within several scientific review divisions - the Division of Neuroscience, Development and Aging, the Division of Translational and Clinical Sciences, and the Division of Basic and Integrative Biological Sciences.
