Dr. Ekaterina (Katia) Nestorovich holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from St. Petersburg State University and a Professional Certificate in project management from Stanford. Her postdoctoral research at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development focused on the biophysics of membrane transport using single Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa outer membrane beta-barrel porin channels reconstituted into planar lipid membranes. Before joining CSR, Dr. Nestorovich was a tenured Associate Professor at The Catholic University of America, where she led NIH-funded research on designing small-molecule inhibitors for bacterial channel-forming exotoxins, including anthrax toxin. While in academia, she developed graduate courses in rational drug design, biostatistics, and biotechnology project management.
