Dr. Brennan received her Ph.D. in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles. She continued her research on mechanisms of oxidative stress and inflammation in cardiovascular disease as a postdoctoral fellow and junior faculty at Cleveland Clinic, performing basic mechanistic studies and developing new clinical biomarkers. She earned her M.D. from Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University and completed internal medicine and medical genetics training at Stanford University. Her longstanding focus has been on translational research efforts, from benchtop research studies to building infrastructure and new programs. She completed fellowship training at the NIH in genomic medicine program management and received an NIH Director’s Award in 2022 for this work.
