Dr. Alfredo Guerra received his Ph.D. in biological chemistry from Indiana University, where he studied metal-dependent transcriptional regulation. Dr. Guerra conducted his postdoctoral work at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology and the University of Michigan Department of Microbiology and Immunology, studying P. falciparum and T. gondii, respectively. He became part of the research-track faculty at the University of Michigan in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, where he studied the mechanisms of egress of T. gondii. Prior to coming to CSR, Dr. Guerra was the lead scientist in protein sciences and structural biology at Cayman Chemical.
