Dr. Nesmelova earned her Ph.D. in physics and mathematics from Kazan State University in Russia and completed postdoctoral training in biophysics and biochemistry at the University of Minnesota. She subsequently joined the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a faculty member, where she held the position of professor in the Department of Physics and Optical Science. During her tenure at UNC Charlotte, Dr. Nesmelova taught a range of physics and biophysics courses and led a research program in protein biophysics. She also established and directed the interdisciplinary Molecular Biophysics Ph.D. concentration. Dr. Nesmelova’s technical expertise includes NMR spectroscopy and other biophysical techniques used for characterizing protein structure, dynamics, and interactions.
