Dr. Nijaguna Prasad earned his master’s and Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Mysore, India, and completed postdoctoral training at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), where he investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN1) development. He subsequently joined Johns Hopkins University as an assistant professor, where he established a research program focused on molecular targets and therapeutic strategies for neuroendocrine tumors. His research at NHGRI and Johns Hopkins University involved multiple animal models, including mouse, zebrafish, and fruit fly, as well as human clinical samples, representing various pathological conditions. His work has led to numerous publications, several of which are ranked to cover-page featured status. In addition, his research has resulted in the award of two novel U.S. patents. Since returning to NIH in 2015, Dr. Prasad has assumed the role of scientific review officer in the Division of Extramural Administration at the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and later transitioned to the EMS branch at the Center for Scientific Review (CSR).
