Dr. Neuhuber earned her Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of Salzburg, Austria, and completed postdoctoral training at NHLBI, where she investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying neuromuscular junction development. She subsequently joined Drexel University College of Medicine as an assistant professor, where she established a research program focused on stem cell biology and therapeutic strategies for spinal cord injury. In collaboration with clinical and industry partners, she explored combinatorial treatment approaches including neurotrophic factors and biomaterials as well as minimally invasive delivery methods. In addition, she directed the Molecular and Cellular Biology Core at the NIH-funded Drexel Med Spinal Cord Research Center.

Since returning to NIH in 2011, Dr. Neuhuber has assumed roles of growing responsibility, starting as a program analyst in the Division of Neuroscience, NINDS, and later transitioning to the NINDS Scientific Review Branch as a scientific review officer. In 2018, she was appointed Deputy Chief of the Scientific Review Branch at the NIA, where she oversaw daily review operations and staff training.
