During her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, she studied cell cycle regulation during mating in budding yeast and the crosstalk between the mitogen-activated protein kinase cascade and the Ras/cAMP pathway. She joined the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) in 2000 as a senior research fellow and later became a staff scientist, where she studied nutritional stress responses and translational control in budding and fission yeast. She has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, presented her studies at national and international events, and served as a peer reviewer for scientific journals. Dr. Cherkasova first joined CSR in 2015 as a scientific review officer and subsequently served as an SRO at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) prior to rejoining CSR.
