Dr. Annie Walker-Abbey obtained her Ph.D. degree in microbiology from the Heinrich-Heine University of Duesseldorf, Germany. She then received postdoctoral training in the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), where she conducted research on malaria. Dr. Walker-Abbey continued to work on malaria as a research scientist at the Biomedical Research Institute, Rockville, MD. Subsequently, she transferred to the Department of Biology, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, as an assistant research professor and conducted research on the acquisition of immunity to malaria in infants with support from NIH. She later returned to NIAID as a scientific review officer (SRO), managing reviews of many different initiatives and solicitations for 21 years before transitioning to CSR.
