Dr. Victor Henriquez received his Ph.D. in neuroscience from The State University of New York at Stony Brook. He did his postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), where he trained in the neurological control of speech and swallowing while developing a rodent model of inflammation and neuropathies on the laryngeal reflex. Subsequently, he joined the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and served as a scientific review officer, organizing review meetings in broad and varied areas — including novel dental materials, oral mucosal immunization, tissue regeneration, and the effects of e-cigarette aerosols. Prior to joining CSR, in 2013, Dr. Henriquez became the deputy chief of the Scientific Review Branch at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), assisting the branch chief and supervising the scientific review officers in the peer review of grant applications and contract proposals submitted to NCATS. In 2016, he led the Clinical and Translational Science Awards Program (CTSA) cooperative agreement reviews, along with various grants, contracts, and Other Transaction Authority reviews.
