Dr. Marilyn Moore-Hoon received a Ph.D. in natural sciences (molecular biology) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, where she combined molecular biology and biophysical approaches to study ion transport across epithelial cell membranes through solute transporter family members (SLC proteins). She was a fellow, and later a staff biologist, at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), then became an SRO at NIDCR. Subsequently, Dr. Moore-Hoon moved to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), where she became the Team Lead for the Neuroscience Cluster of the Scientific Review Branch. Over the course of her work as an SRO, she has participated in multiple NIH-wide initiatives, including most recently on the multi-institution conflict of interest working group for the NIH Office of Extramural Research, Review Policy Committee. Prior to joining CSR, she served as the Chief of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Scientific Review Branch.
