Dr. John Laffan received his Ph.D. from Wesleyan University in molecular biology and biochemistry. After postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado Boulder, he took a faculty position in the Microbiology Department of the Medical School at East Tennessee State University. While there, in addition to carrying out NIH-funded research and teaching medical and graduate students, he created and ran their molecular biology core facility. Dr. Laffan has been a scientific review officer at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 2007.
