Dr. Eduardo Chufan earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Universidad Nacional de San Luis in Argentina, where he conducted research in the areas of bioinorganic chemistry and pharmacology. He subsequently completed postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University, studying dioxygen activation, first using synthetic models of enzyme active sites and later in metalloproteins involved in the activation of neurotransmitters and hormones. He then joined the Laboratory of Cell Biology at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to investigate the efflux mechanism of P-glycoprotein and its interactions with kinase inhibitors and other drug candidates. His expertise spans the fields of bioinorganic chemistry, protein chemistry, structural biology, and drug discovery, with a recent focus on cancer research.
