This panel reviews patient-centered behavioral applications focused on nutrition and diet and the management/ treatment of obesity, and diabetes. Behavioral interventions to manage and treat obesity and diabetes, including obesity pharmacotherapy and approaches to address eating disorders, and associated symptomatology are reviewed. All applications are in human populations. Applications focused on cellular, molecular, physiologic, pathophysiologic or pathobiological pathways of these conditions and diseases are reviewed elsewhere.

  • Behavioral applications focused on the management and treatment of weight-loss, weight management, weight-loss maintenance strategies and food intake including obesity pharmacotherapy.
  • Behavioral applications proposing automated insulin delivery (AID) systems and continuous glucose monitoring for diabetes treatment. Digital health programs that combine continuous glucose monitoring with video education to support diabetes treatment.
  • Management and treatment of obesity and the use of obesity pharmacotherapy for children and adolescents, including the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) for treatment of adolescent obesity.
  • Diet and weight loss behavioral interventions involving food intake, dietary self-monitoring protocols, daily caloric self-monitoring, body mass index (BMI) reduction, and use of obesity medications as treatment approaches, leading to weight loss and improved outcomes.
  • Behavioral applications proposing the management and treatment of eating disorders and/or symptom monitoring of diseases states including binge eating disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa (BN), and atypical anorexia nervosa (AAN).
