The Health Promotion for Mental Health and Substance Misuse study section reviews behavioral interventions involving the uptake/ adoption of health behaviors to improve mental health and psychological well-being and reduce substance misuse. All studies are in human populations. Population based studies, studies proposing the use of pharmacotherapies, applications with a physiological or biological basis, basic science, or animal model focus are reviewed in other study sections. Community-level interventions, local area/place-based interventions, system-level interventions are reviewed in other study sections.

  • Interventions to improve mental and psychological well-being (e.g. anxiety, depression);
  • Interventions to encourage healthy behaviors and reduce harms associated with substance use including but not limited to use of alcohol, cocaine, nicotine, stimulant, psychostimulants, methamphetamine, cannabis, and other opioid related addictive substances.
