The topics covered include applications that seek to develop assays, model systems, tools and reagents to probe the biological and/or physiological underpinnings of psychiatric, neurological or neurodegenerative diseases. Model systems may include transgenic, cell culture, lab on a chip as well as organinoid systems. New applications of imaging methodologies and ancillary tools for diagnostics and research applications are also reviewed in this study section.
With respect to development and aging, studies may examine the basic biology of stem cells as well as strategies for their culture and differentiation in vitro and vivo. Novel strategies for animal cloning as well as the use of genetic approaches to address developmental questions are also covered.
The methodologies which are covered include, but are not limited to cellular/molecular, genetic/genomic, chemical, electrophysiological, imaging, computational as well as digital assisted technologies.
