Fellowships: Kidney, Urology, Reproduction and Skin – F14
This special emphasis panel reviews fellowship applications related to the function, physiology and pathophysiology of the kidney and urologic systems, including acute and chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal disease, diabetic nephropathy, polycystic kidney disease, kidney donation and renal replacement, congenital kidney disorders, IgA nephropathy, fluid and electrolyte disorders, kidney repair and regeneration, normal and abnormal kidney development and physiology, benign prostatic hyperplasia, urinary incontinence, urinary tract infections, stones, erectile dysfunction, urologic chronic pelvic pain syndromes (including interstitial cystitis and chronic prostatitis), congenital urologic disorders, repair and regeneration of lower urinary tract organs, and normal and abnormal lower urinary tract development and physiology. Topics within the reproductive sciences include gametogenesis, fertilization, embryology and development from the early stages of gonad development and through implantation of the embryo, pregnancy, and parturition, including neonatal development and maternal/fetal physiology, pregnancy and lactation. Dermatology, establishment and analyses of preclinical animal models skin diseases, basic studies of the anatomy, function, and regeneration of skin structures, and bioengineering and therapeutic solutions for skin repair are also covered.
